For yourself or with your Person!

Now I don’t know about you, but I LOVE taking myself on a date or solo-adventure around town and can’t recommend it enough if you haven’t given it a try! If you’re in need of a little time to yourself or want to fill up your Adventure Tank, then here is a list of some of the best spots in Seattle to get out and about.

Oddfellows

Whether you need a working lunch, brunch, or a cute spot for happy hour with friends, Oddfellows is a WONDERFUL spot near and dear to my heart.

Biscuit Tip of the Day: Elliot Bay Bookstore next door has Little Oddfellows nestled away in the back, for all of your pastry, caffeine, and literary needs as well!

Retreat

Located right next to Green Lake, Retreat is a great spot to pick up an Activated Charcoal Latte, Avocado Toast, or Sweet Potato Bowl after a morning walk. Yes, I know that sounds Hipster AF, but if you haven’t tried them yet, you don’t know what you’re missing! ;)

With loads of beautiful plants, both inside and out, Retreat feels like you’re getting away while still in the city. They also have a full bar and would be a great spot for happy hour too!

Citizen

Citizen, an adorable little spot in Lower Queen Anne is one of my absolute favorite places to get a little work done during the day. And in the afternoon and evenings, they open up their back lawn area fully equipped with an outdoor bar and lawn games! When you go, get the Korexican Tacos. They’re delicious and you’ll thank me later, I promise!

Volunteer Park Cafe

Biscuit, I’m gonna be real. This one is so good I had to think twice about sharing it! ;) Nestled between Volunteer Park, the Arboretum, and Interlaken Park, the Volunteer Park Cafe is the perfect spot for a post-morning run coffee or a quick snack while out walking the dog. Their restaurant space is small, but absolutely beautiful, and will make you want to stay a while.

P.S. As of December 2020, this wonderful cafe was sold to new investors. I hear there are plans to bring it back to its old grocery store glory, so I’ll keep you posted as things develop. As of right now though, the cafe is unfortunately closed, so skip this spot and choose another!

Percy’s

If you haven’t noticed, I might have a thing for plants and the exposed brick vibe… But more importantly, I have a thing for well crafted cocktails. Percy’s happy hour and brunch menus are delicious, so consider making your night out a progressive dinner! It’s also the perfect spot to grab a drink before you head to Tractor Tavern or Sunset for a show.

P.S. If you need a first date spot, I can say first-hand that this one worked really well for me and my Biscuit, Eric! ;)

Agua Verde Cafe & Paddle Club

Taking a kayak out on Lake Union is one of my favorite things to do on a sunny afternoon or while I have company visiting from out of town. Agua Verde is the absolute perfect spot to fill your Adventure Tank and when you combine kayak rentals with a post-paddle margarita and guacamole? Then you have an afternoon made for the books!

And if you want to join us this summer, we’ll be launching Biscuits Be Paddling, a kayaking group for women who want to opt outside and have some fun on the water together! Sign up for my email list here to stay in the loop on upcoming dates.

Biscuit Tip of the Day: You need to hit the mat, the laundromat that is. Round out the evening with a scoop or two of Molly Moon’s ice cream right out front!

Night Out in Madrona

In my completely biased opinion, the sweet little neighborhood of Madrona is a perfect escape from the daily grind of the city. Regardless of your mood, Madrona has your back. I mean, the Laundromat has a Molly Moon’s window for crying out loud!

For date night, I’d recommend starting with happy hour at Red Cow for an amazing burger paired with truffle fries. Next walk right across the street to Bottlehouse, an adorable wine bar with a beautiful patio and tasting menu. Next, if you’re still in the mood for wine, head downstairs to Wilridge, Seattle’s original urban winery for a dessert wine flight or a bottle of Touriga Nacional to go. And lastly, hit up the Molly Moon’s window for a little dessert on the way home! You may need a wheelbarrow to roll you home, but at least you’ve had a night to remember!

Rider

Although you may not immediately think of a hotel restaurant as a special occasion spot, Rider will prove you wrong! This is such a delightful gem in the middle of Downtown Seattle, with a parking space waiting for you at Pacific Place next door. They have a beautifully cozy bar as well, that would be perfect for a working lunch or happy hour. Eric and I came here for my birthday last year and we’re still talking about what we ate! Seriously, it’s that good.

Your Couch

Because sometimes what you need most is to stop and have a night in... We’re all so programmed to over-schedule, over-commit, and people-please ourselves to death! So let this be the sign you need to sit down and get some freaking rest. Grab a book you’ve been dying to read or watch a movie that makes you laugh! And for some of the BEST snacks…
